Assignment 1 Instructions
- Individual Project
Available Ambiant + Reflective Light Project
For this Porject you will need:
Digital SLR Camera (personal or checked out)
Tripod (REMEMBER: Great Care paying attention
to secure the release plate)
Foam Core (white)
-Individually, each student will photograph a person/object(s) using a tripod, utilizing only available light (natural or artificial). When the camera, tripod, and subject matter are set up, 2 images should be made.
1) A normal exposure wtih camera on tripod of a
person/object lit by 3/4 light
2) Same shot with out camera moving but this time
use a white bouce card to reflect light in to the
shadow area of the person/object.
(Thus via compairison showing their different
effects)
- Try more than one composition and/or subject.
- Pay particular attention to composition, aspects of light and exposure (histograms), and produce interesting images.
Assignment 2 Instructions
- Group Project (2-3 students)
Single Strobe + Reflective Light Project
For this Project you will need:
Digital SLR Camera (personal or checked out)
Tripod (Great Care paying attention to secure
the release plate)
1 White lightning Strobe
1 Light Stand
Radio Transmitter and Receiver
Foam Core (white)
-Sett up Strobe Mono light, Receiver and Transceiver as shown in class on light stand. Bring props and other materials to studio for creative exploration of an idea or “theme”
-Your group will photograph a person/object(s) using equipment noted above. Most importantly you will utilize only 1 strobe as explored in class.
-Set up subject-matter, background, plywood table, saw horses and camera securely on tripod.
-Like the previous assignment produce 2 images in the camera .RAW format. Remember to adjust the strobe power to achieve proper exposure(particularly to histogram in camera). Remember also to pay close attention to composition, aspects of light upon the subject.

NOTE: Jobs should be rotated so each member of the group is able to shoot, light and set up.
