Project 4: Portrait Assignment (3 strobe)
Assignment 4 Rembrant Assignment Instructions
Use the handout plus the reading + web searches for “Rembrandt van Rijn” and “Hendrik Kerstens” of his daughter as shown in class to research portraits your group finds inspiring.
Use your model/materials creatively to make your own group version of this type of “historical” portrait.
Materials, clothing, Props are to be brought in to build your “Chosen Portrait” building upon skills introduced in class. Portraits should be tight around the head no lower than the waist.

Camera (w/ or w/o tether cord) on Salon
stand
3 White Lightning Mono Head (800watt only)
Radio slaves
CStands
Sand bags
Extension cord



Instructions:
- Set up background, lights, CStands, Camera, Tripod
and set up model dress, props, materials.
- Capture 3 images (minimum) that show successful use of ratio lighting showing:
1. Directional rembrant Key light
2. Combination Key light, Second (fill)
3. Combination Key light, Second (fill) and
Third light (background)
- Position Model/Subject Apropriatly
- Paying attention to composition, aspects of light and Histogram/Exposure.
- Jobs should be rotated so each member of the group is able to shoot, light and set up.
- Download and edit images produced keeping them in their Raw format. To be handed in only in
digital .DNG form next class
NOTE: (NEW) Submit your specific lighting diagram image in, by screen capture from w: www.lightingdiagram.com
This will be mandatory for every assignment from now on.
